ALL ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

It all began when students at UW-Madison decided to start an organization for Japanese people and culture. In late-night meetings at College Library, the founders of JSA planned language, food, and culture-sharing events. Seeing a need for Japanese cultural development and social connections, they officially established the Japanese Student Association in 2014.

Since then, our organization has grown. In 2015, we established job hunting and linguistic support programs, aimed at assisting students in Japanese workplaces. Each year, we host monthly events for our members, which range from sharing Japanese food or singing karaoke to watching Japanese-language movies and facilitating cultural discussions. Additionally, JSA fosters connections with the broader Madison Japanese community, most notably with the annual Spring Festival. We are proud to have welcomed new general and board members each year!

We invite any undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to join JSA! JSA membership is open to all students, regardless of national or ethnic identity, and we are always excited for new members to join. Check our events page or contacts for more information!
